Montana celebrates Forest Products Week – The Western News: Guest Commentaries

Nowadays networks pay big bucks to actors who can create buzz and pull in huge ratings. TV actors and network executives are becoming millionaires, often earning even more money in syndication than profits seen during original production. “I call it selling tickets,” Somers said. “It’s like ‘Friends’ when they got a million dollars an episode. You’re not going to watch ‘Friends’ without the friends,” she said, referencing the hit TV show that featured a group of 20-something buddies co-habitating in New York City. Change of luck

There is more than one way to carve a pumpkin – Technician: Features

It applied for a building permit Sept. 30. Certainly, numerous salons dot Twin Falls’ business landscape, but if it comes to fruition ULTA’s store will be something out of the ordinary: a salon combined with a store and sharing 10,000 square feet. Billing itself as “the largest beauty retailer that provides prestige, mass and salon products and salon services in the United States,” ULTA says it is growing quickly. According to its website, it operates more than 700 locations in 47 states. Why Twin Falls? Rachel Coleman, who does public relations work on behalf of ULTA, provided a press release saying the beauty retailer “opens in areas where there is easy access for its customers and where it feels that the local residents would be open to all that ULTA Beauty offers.” The new location has set a tentative opening for the second half of 2015. Coleman said ULTA plans to hire more than 20 people locally. What will it pay? Her email said “ULTA is committed to attracting and keeping the best talent and offers competitive pay packages at all levels.” Jarrod Bordi of the Twin Falls Building Department is out of the office this week, so he was unavailable for comment on how the permit process is coming for ULTA and other retailers, including Petco and Dick’s Sporting Goods, which have applied for building permits at Canyon Park West.

One of the more uncommon pumpkin recipes involves employing the pumpkin itself as a kind of crock pot. After baking your gutted pumpkin for 20-30 minutes (until the flesh is softened), stuff it with whatever you feel compelled to. Some recipes suggest that this be done with casserole, soup and even corn bread. In addition to using the pumpkin flesh for eating purposes, it can be whipped into any number of skin products, like facial masks and body butters. An easy facial mask requires mixing together pumpkin, honey and milk and applying for 20 minutes. Repurpose that gourd even further. Pumpkins on their own make great decorations. If you dont feel up to carving one and having to compete with your neighbors picture-perfect depiction of Walter White, just leave your pumpkin unscathed. Let its natural beauty shine. In addition, your pumpkin can be made into a planter of sorts. Simply cut off the top of your spherical vegetable, gut it and put something botanical inside of it.
